BIKE RIDE 2018 – CHARITY PRESENTATION NIGHT

Wednesday 5th December 2018 saw the gathering of the Brethren, Ladies & friends Of temple Lodge 1094 (craft) for their ‘Christmas Ladies to Dine’ held at the best Greek Restaurant in Liverpool – Zorba’s in Leece Street, (opposite the ‘bombed out church’)
Traditional Greek entertainment
Many of those gathered were also Mark Master Masons & all present had in some way supported the 5 ‘Charity Bike Rides’ that the Brethren had undertaken since 2014
Tucking in to the Greek Banquet
The Brethren were honoured to receive as their principal guest VWBro Geoff Lee PGJO, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of West Lancashire together with his wife Marion & WBro Mike PGSD, the Mark RWPGMs Special Representative for the Liverpool Area.

After enjoying the Greek Banquet laid before them & the entertainment the Worshipful Master of Temple Lodge, Bro John Bruffell PPrJGD (Corinthian Mark Lodge) formally welcomed all to the evening as we reached the important part of the evening – the presentation of cheques in relation to the 2018 Bike Ride between Liverpool & London.

Two cheques were to be presented – the first to VWBro Geoff Lee for the West Lancashire Mark Charity Fund for the sum of £2810.15p (inc gift aid).  The Mark Province had over the 5 events that the Brethren had participated in lent their support in promoting the events & donating to the various charities that had been supported.

VWBro Geoff Lee thanked everyone present for such generosity in supporting the events over a 5 year period & in particular for the splendid cheque he had been presented with & stated that it was thankfully received & would be faithfully applied.

Unfortunately for us our ‘star rider’ Angela McShane from the ‘R’ Charity was unable to attend, but it was appropriate that Lauren was present to receive the cheque on behalf of the ‘R’ Charity.

Lauren had been the first person from the Charity that Steve Walls had contacted way back in 2013 when it all started & she took great pleasure in receiving a cheque for the remaining donations making the total raised for the ‘R’ Charity in 2018 to £3306.25p (inc gift aid).

Lauren wished to thank all concerned including those who were absent for their sustained support & generosity to the ‘R’ Charity informing all present that the grand total raised over the 5 events was £21121.84p (inc gift aid).

The formalities over, the Brethren continued to enjoy the evening before wishing each other best wishes for the Festive season & all making their way home safely with the quiet satisfaction that they had all helped to support those less fortunate than themselves.
